wpkg flag 2 WP2 : Ship-based carbon capture in the full CCUS chain

We will take a holistic view of ship-based carbon capture (SBCC) as part of international carbon capture and utilisation (CCUS) networks.

Our studies will link closely with work packages 1, 3 and 4 to cover different aspects; for example, ship and port-side integration of SBCC, the facilities required by ports, how much space will this entail and the techno-economic implications.

We will consider the quality requirements and logistics of CO2 offloading and its onward transport and utilisation and/or geological storage, providing practical recommendations for port authorities and industries.

Our CO2 Shipping Interoperability Industry Group (CSIIG) aims to connect at least five European ports, where CO2 shipping already occurs, with developing CCUS projects where it is expected to play a key role.
