GCE Blue Maritime Cluster is one of Norway’s biggest industrial clusters and is representing companies throughout the complete maritime value chain.
ÅKP AS is hosting the cluster and is also a regional hub for innovation, business development, which facilitates and supports a range of regional, national and international projects.

With its valuable connections to the maritime environment, particularly in the north West of Norway, including ports, ÅKP AS will support EverLoNG’s CO₂ offloading strategy work and the development of an offloading network.

Anthony Veder is a gas shipping company providing high-quality services to global chemicals manufacturers worldwide. Its fleet of gas tankers provide specialised transport of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Petrochemical gases. 

The company will be an advisor on EverLoNG’s CO₂ Shipping Interoperability Industry Group (CSIIG) and will contribute to CO₂ offloading and storage strategies and the development of a European roadmap towards an offloading network. It will also provide advice on the design of CO₂ storage units and contribute to process hazard analysis, or HAZIDs.

Bureau Veritas covers the regulatory and safety assessment work in work package 5 of EverLoNG.

Carbotreat, a Bouman Industries company, designs, develops, manufactures and maintains carbon capture systems and liquefaction plants for land based and maritime applications. In EverLoNG, the company will engineer, procure and construct the prototype capture unit and assist the demonstration campaigns.

Carbotreat will also take part in the conceptual design of the full-scale capture systems, designing heat integration systems and the standardised SBCC system. It will contribute to safety studies, Techno-Economic Analysis (TEAs) and Life-Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and will also demonstrate CO₂ utilisation and storage.

Founded in 1952, Conoship is an innovative ship design and engineering company with expertise across the shipbuilding process. It will establish the optimal arrangements for integrating full-scale ship-based carbon capture onboard the project ships, focusing on ship infrastructure and stability.

The company will also advise on the best integration of the prototype capture pilot for the demonstration campaign, support safety studies and participate in Techno-Economic Analysis (TEAs) and participate in Life-Cycle Assessments (LCAs).

DNV is a global, independent expert in assurance and risk management and the world’s leading classification society and advisor for the maritime industry. It delivers testing, certification and technical advisory services to the energy value chain. Together with Bureau Veritas, DNV will cover regulatory and safety assessment aspects in work package 5.

Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (FZJ) is one of Europe’s largest interdisciplinary research centres with nine research institutes working across a varied portfolio of disciplines.

FZJ will lead EverLoNG’s WP4, evaluating the environmental impact of the different SBCC full chains, using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and providing evaluation of CO2 equivalent reduction targets.

Heerema’s group of companies engineer, design, construct, transport, install and remove offshore structures for the energy industries.  The company will host the small-scale CO₂ capture system and SBCC prototype onboard its ship, the Sleipnir. 

The company will make the necessary arrangements for the prototype campaign, including any tie-ins to the ship. It will also contribute to Techno-Economic Analysis (TEAs) and participate in Life-Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and safety studies concerning its ship.

Lloyd’s Register is part of the Lloyd’s Register Group, a global risk management and safety assurance organisation that works to enhance safety and to approve assets and systems at sea, on land and in the air. 

It will lead work package 5 on the regulatory framework for ship-based carbon capture (SBCC) systems in collaboration with other class societies Bureau Veritas and DNV, technology developers and end users. 

The class societies aim to de-risk the installation of SBCC systems on board ships and disseminate results among international regulatory regimes.
 

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is the USA’s premier security science laboratory with research and development programmes focusing on energy, medical, biotechnology, high-energy physics and advanced scientific computing. 

LANL will provide analytical support for quantifying solvent degradation rates and developing an overall solvent management strategy. It will contribute to the design of the solvent reclaiming process for CO₂ offloading facilities and will also be responsible for coordinating research within work packages 2 and 4.

MAN Energy Solutions is the world’s leading provider of large-bore diesel and gas engines and turbomachinery. Its portfolio includes two-stroke and four-stroke engines for marine and stationary applications, turbochargers and propellers, as well as gas and steam turbines, compressors and chemical reactors.

MAN will advise the EverLoNG experimental programme, providing know-how for MAN-built engines and exhaust gas compositions. It will also advise on the CO₂ liquefaction system design and conduct analysis of SBCC and ship system integration and contribute to Techno-Economic Analysis (TEAs) and Life-Cycle Assessments (LCAs).

MAN will research potential markets for SBCC and alternative mitigation technologies and support the development of utilisation options.

Nexant Energy and Chemical Advisory is a long-standing advisor for the energy, gas, refining and chemical industries with clients, which include major oil, gas and chemical companies, governments, financial institutions and regulators. 

Within work package 2, Nexant will design the CO₂ offloading facilities and onshore CO₂ purification and conditioning plants. The onshore plants will include solvent reclaiming facilities, which Nexant will design.  The company will also provide support for Techno-Economic Analysis of the full CCUS chain, as part of  work package 4.

Scottish Carbon Capture & Storage (SCCS) is the UK’s largest CCS research group with researchers at its partner institutes spearheading innovative research. The SCCS Team provide a range of professional services, including policy research and communications.

SCCS has a track record in CO₂ shipping analysis for CCS projects and will leads Task 2.2 in WP2, developing the CO₂ Shipping Interoperability Industry Group (CSIIG), dissemination and knowledge exchange and development of the port readiness tool. It will deliver communication and dissemination activities within work package 6. 
 

SINTEF AS is a part of the SINTEF Foundation, the largest independent research organisation in Scandinavia. SINTEF Industry has been involved in several international, EU and national projects on CO₂ capture and storage.

It will be responsible for activities relating to Techno-Economic Analysis, CO₂ specifications, CO₂ offloading strategies and the development of a roadmap for a CO₂ offloading network.

TNO is the largest fully independent research, development and consultancy organisation in the Netherlands. It provides contract research and specialist consultancy and grants licences for patents and specialist software.

In EverLoNG, TNO will undertake test campaigns with its mobile CO2 capture plant and assist with the conceptual design and operation of the prototype CO2 capture demonstration campaign.

The team will also lead Techno-Economic Analysis (TEAs) and participate in Life-Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and safety studies.

TotalEnergies is a major oil and gas operator, bringing experience to EverLoNG’s work packages as ship operators and CO₂ capture and transport technology experts as well as knowledge of geological CO₂ storage.

The company is providing a ship to allow the testing and evaluation of ship-based carbon capture integrated with the vessel’s systems.

VDL AEC Maritime focuses on the development, engineering, manufacturing and commissioning of innovative maritime products and systems.

In EverLoNG, the company will contribute to the design and standardisation of the SBCC prototype. It will conduct safety studies for full-scale SBCC and advise on optimal integration of the prototype and full-scale systems. 

VDL will also participate in commissioning the prototype and provide training to crew members responsible for operating it. VDL also has a role in Techno-Economic Analysis (TEAs) and participate in Life-Cycle Assessments (LCAs).
